Crowns
A crown is a cap that is put over a tooth for added strength or protection. A crown is typically indicated when a tooth fractures or to prevent tooth fracture. Crowns are also done when there is a large cavity or filling, severe wear, or root canal treatment. We provide both tooth-colored and gold crowns.
During crown treatment, we try to be as conservative as possible, but some tooth structure does need to be removed to make room for the crown material to fit over your natural tooth. An impression of the tooth is then made and sent to the dental lab to fabricate a custom-made crown that fits to your mouth. While the lab is making your crown, you will have a temporary crown to protect the tooth and will return in a couple of weeks to make sure it fits properly and you are satisfied with how your new crown looks and feels.
